A day @ Mumbai train

This is the third time am in Mumbai, but till now had not got the chance to travel by local trains. Today auto guys were on strike and I decided that should explore the Mumbai trains. But even after telling my desire to travel by train my colleague came with a taxi to visit the TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) campus. TIFR is a very beautiful campus which is located just attached to a sea shore at Navy Nagar; I enjoyed the view of Sea from there and realized that this is the reason for the productive research which is happening at TIFR. After my work at TIFR as decided I told my colleague that I want to go back to hotel by train, he started to tell some scary stories about the Mumbai train journey. But still he suggested me to travel only by a first class train if I really want to. I entered a railway station and wondered by seeing the crowd. Realized no wonder India is the second largest populated country. Took a first class ticket and started waiting for my train. Saw the train that’s it, by the time it stopped in the platform I was inside the train without putting any effort was already pushed inside by the other co passengers. I had heard many times that “you don’t have to get inside the train in Mumbai, u just stand and crowd will take you inside”, Today just experienced it with that much crowd also I managed to get a seat, all credit goes to JNV my school, that’s 7 years of hostel experience were I used to run and manage to stand first in a queue to get the food at mess.

 Train started, it was too much crowded. Was sweating like anything there was no difference between the first class and second class all the coaches were over filled as if whole Mumbai was in the coach and it was hard to breath. I waited for my stop to come with constantly disturbing the next passenger asking when I have to get down. Still there were four stops but person sitting next asked me to get up and move towards the door. I fallowed his instructions but the funny part was that I was trying to get out but I was not able to move at all..! I was thinking mind that as I got inside without putting any effort, similarly I should be able to get out also but it was opposite, by the time I tried getting out I was on the next stop from my destination. Finally I managed to get out and was almost completely wet by Sweat. Sweat of others not mine..! At the end of the day I realized that there is no much of difference between the first or second class coach. Be it any coach you will be almost getting bathed from others sweat. But only the difference will be in first class coach it will be the sweat with little mixture of different perfumes/deos. Over all a super experience everyone should experience it  ;)    

ನವೋದಯ

 

ಬಾಲ್ಯ ಜೀವನದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಮಧುರವಾದ ಸಮಯ, ಯಾರನ್ನೇ ಕೇಳಿದರೂ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹೇಳೋದು ನಾನು ಚಿಕ್ಕವನಿದ್ದಾಗ ಎಷ್ಟು ಚೆಂದ ಇತ್ತು ಯಾವುದೇ ಟೆನ್ಶನ್ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ , ನನ್ನ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ಲೈಫ್ ಸೂಪರ್ ಅಂತ . ನಾನಂತು ಇನ್ನು ಅದೃಷ್ಟಶಾಲಿ ಯಾಕಂದ್ರೆ ನನ್ನ ಅತ್ಯಮೂಲ್ಯ ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ದಿನಗಳನ್ನ ಕಳೆದದ್ದು ಮಲೆನಾಡ ಮಡಿಲಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜವಾಹರ್ ನವೋದಯ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೀ ನವೋದಯ ಅಂತ ಅನಿಸಬಹುದು , ನನ್ನ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಬೇಕಂದ್ರೆ ಸ್ವರ್ಗ...! ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಆಯಿತು ಅಂತೀರಾ , ಸರಿ ಅರ್ಥ ಆಗೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳ್ಬೇಕಂದ್ರೆ  ಜವಾಹರ್ ನವೋದಯ ವಿಧ್ಯಾಲಯಗಳು (JNV) ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ.

1985 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾದ JNV ವಸತಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಪಿವಿ ನರಸಿಂಹ ರಾವ್  ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಅವರ ಕನಸಿನ ಕೂಸು. ಭಾರತದ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವುದು, ಪೊಷಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತಮ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡುವುದು ಇದರ ಮೊದಲ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದೀಗ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿ, ದೇಶದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲೂ JNV ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿವೆ,. ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 2010ರ ವರೆಗೆ ಸುಮಾರು 600 JNV ಗಳು ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ವಿಧ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿವೆ .ಪ್ರತಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ CBSE ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ನಡೆಸುವ ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮೂಲಕ ಆಯ್ಕೆ.6 ನೆ  ತರಗತಿಯಿಂದ 12 ನೆ ತರಗತಿಯವರೆಗೆ ತ್ರಿಭಾಷ ಪಧ್ಧತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು.

ಹೋ...! ಅದ್ರಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಿದೆ ಸ್ಪೆಷಲ್ ನಿಮ್ಮುರಲ್ಲೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸ್ಕೂಲು-ಕಾಲೇಜು ಇದೆ ಅಂತಿರ ??? JNV ಸ್ಪೆಷಲ್ ಏನಪ್ಪಾ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಕ್ಲಾಸ್-VI ನೇ ರಿಂದ XII ಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ನೀಡುವುದು, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ CBSE ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಸಾಧಾರಣ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಂಗೀತ, ಆಟಗಳು, ಡ್ರಾಯಿಂಗ್, ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್, SUPW (ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕವಾಗಿ ಉಪಯುಕ್ತ ಉತ್ಪಾದಕ ಕೃತಿಗಳು) ಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡ ಕಲಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಧ್ಯಬ್ಯಾಸ ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಚಿತವಲ್ಲ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ವಸತಿ ಶಾಲೆಯಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಊಟ, ಸಮವಸ್ತ್ರ, ಪಠ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು, ಸೋಪು, ಟೂತ್ ಪೇಸ್ಟ್, ಸ್ಟೇಷನರಿ,.....! ಎಲ್ಲವು ಉಚಿತ.

ಈ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿ ಮಗುವಿನ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ,JNV ಶಾಲೆಗಳ X ಮತ್ತು XII ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಾ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶಗಳು ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆ CBSE ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸರಾಸರಿ ಪಾಸ್ ಶೇಕಡಾವಾರು ಕೇಂದ್ರೀಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹವಾಗಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿದೆ.ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ಹೊರತಾಗಿಯೂ ಈ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಯಶಸ್ಸನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.ಅಧುನಿಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಆಟ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತೇಜನ ನೀಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಇದು ವಿಧ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಧೈಹಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಭೌತಿಕ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಲ್ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು  ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಕ್ಲಸ್ಟರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಸ್ಪೋರ್ಟ್ಸ್ ಮೀಟ್ಸ್ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ . ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಭಾರತ್ ಸ್ಕೌಟ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಗೈಡ್ಸ್  ಹಾಗು NCC ಮೂಲಕ ವಿವಿಧ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪ್ ಹಾಗು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಬಹುದು. ಇದುವರೆಗೂ ಅಂದಾಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ 2 ಲಕ್ಹ್ಶ ವಿಧ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ನವೋದಯದ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳನ್ನ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 

ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷಗಳನ್ನ ಕಳೆದದ್ದು ಇದೆ JNV ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ಈ ಶಾಲೆ ಇರುವುದು ಬಾಳೆಹೊನ್ನೂರಿನ, ಸೀಗೋಡು ಎನ್ನುವ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ, ಸುತ್ತಮಉತ್ತಳು ಹಸಿರೋ ಹಸಿರು, ಕಾಫಿ ತೋಟಗಳು, ಹಸಿರಿನಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುವ ಗುಡ್ಡ ಕಾಡುಗಳು. ಪಕ್ಕ ಮಲೆನಾಡು ಅನ್ನಬಹುದು. ೧೨ ನೆ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ೧೯ ನೆ ವರ್ಷದವರೆಗೂ ಬರುವ ಸಮಯ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಬಾಳಲ್ಲೂ ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾದದ್ದು , ಯಾಕಂದ್ರೆ ಈ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಬೇಕಾದರು ಕಲಿಯುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ, ಈ ಟೈಮ್ ಅನ್ನ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿಕೊಂದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೆಲುವು ಖಚಿತ. JNV ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಬಲಿಯಲು ನಿರ್ಣಯಕ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನವೋದಯವು ನನಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ನವೊದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಸೇರಿದರೆ  ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೆಲುವು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಕಚಿತ ಏಕಂದ್ರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೌಲ್ಡ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಬದುಕಲು ಬೇಕಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪಾಠಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಿದೆ. 


ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 5.30 ಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರುವಾಗುವ ಜೋಗಿಂಗ್ ನಿಂದ ದಿನಚರಿ ಶುರು, ದಿನದ ವ್ಯಾಯಾಮದ ನಂತರ ರೆಡಿ ಆಗಲು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಟೈಮು ನಂತರ ಹಾಲು ಕುಡಿದು ಪ್ರಯೇರ್ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಕ್ಲಾಸ್ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 1 ರ ವರೆಗೂ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಕ್ಲಾಸ್ಗಳು, ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದ ಊಟದ ನಂತರ 3 ರಿಂದ 4.30 ರ ವರೆಗೆ ಸೈಲೆಂಟ್ ರೀಡಿಂಗ್ ಈ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಓದುವುದು, ಹೋಂ ವರ್ಕ್ ಮಾಡುವುದು. 4.30 ಇಂದ ಟೀ/ಕಾಫಿ ಕುಡಿದು ಆಟ/ಗೇಮ್ಸ್ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ಟ್. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ರೀತಿಯ ಆಟೋಟಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆಟ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಊಟದ ಸಮಯದ ವರೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಓದುವುದು. ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಬಿಸಿ ಬಿಸಿ ಊಟ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಓದುವುದಾದ್ರೆ ಓದಬಹುದು ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗುವುದು.ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ದಿನಚರಿ ಮುಗಿಯತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ದೊರೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳೇ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನ ಸ್ಟ್ರಾಂಗ್ ಮಾಡುವುದು.
 

 2011 ಕ್ಕೆ ಜವಾಹರ್ ನವೋದಯ ವಿಧ್ಯಾಲಯ, ಬಾಳೆಹೊನ್ನೂರು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ 25 ವರ್ಷಗಳನ್ನ ಮುಗಿಸಿದೆ, ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಬಡ ಹಾಗು ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರಾದೆಶದಿಂದ ಬಂದಂಥಹ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ವಿಧ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ನೀಡಿದೆ, ಇವತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಿದಂತಹ ಹಲವು ವಿಧ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಪಂಚದದ್ಯಂತ ಹರಡಿ ಉತ್ತಮ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಸಂಘದಿಂದ ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 3 ಹಾಗು 4 ಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ, ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಳೆಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು, ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತವರ ಪೋಷಕರು ಕೂಡ ಬಾಗವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
